Berkeley and Co Ltd

About Us

Berkeley & Co Ltd was founded in 1912 and has been a family owned and run business ever since. The factory, originally in Birmingham, was moved to Telford in 1974 to take advantage of the easy commuter links and single story open plan factory units. It was here in Telford where the company quickly built an effective and loyal workforce that has been the backbone to the success of the business.

The foundation and specialisation of the company has been the manufacture of Split Rings for key rings and other non-threaded fastening applications. Production developments have enabled these products to be refined and improved to now include polished flat Split Rings, which can be printed to give a personalised message. Split Rings made by the company are sold to most of Western Europe, USA and Australia, amongst many other countries.

The manufacture of wire and press formed buckles was added during the early 1980’s and addition of plastic buckles distribution in the early 1990’s. Innovation and development has always been a feature of the company and this approach has enabled us to stay ahead of the competition. The company has a comprehensive range of facilities, which include press capacity to 160 tons, second operation forming and assembly and innovative welding techniques. Once made there is in-house hardening and tempering to produce guaranteed spring-back in split rings. This is followed by modern metal finishing processes and decorative bright nickel plating equipment.
